How to Play BOMBANANA!
BOMBANANA! is an online co-op game for exactly three players โ it will not start with one or two, because each role holds information the others cannot get. Here is the safe path from install to your first defusal.

Step 1: Get the Game
BOMBANANA! is a premium paid title on Steam (App ID 4656000), released September 2, 2026. A free official demo is still available on Steam and is installable after Steam Next Fest, on Windows and macOS. Steam is the one official source โ treat APK sites, browser clones, repacks and full-manual-PDF pages as unverified unless the developer links them. See price and where to buy for details.
Step 2: Form a Squad of Three
- You need three humans. There is no confirmed way to fill empty seats with bots or to play with two.
- Playing with friends is the standard route: create a lobby and invite your two teammates through Steam.
- Random matchmaking: Unconfirmed โ none of our sources document whether the game offers public/random lobbies. Check the in-game lobby menu on your build.
- Before a serious run, test the lobby join and voice delay โ official hotfix notes and community reports both flag lobby, voice chat and microphone issues.
Step 3: Assign Roles
| Role | You can | You cannot |
|---|---|---|
| Blind | Touch the bomb, feel Braille markings | See the bomb (near-black, simplified view) |
| Mute | Read the defusal manual, see and hear | Speak โ gestures only |
| Deaf | See the bomb and the countdown timer, speak freely | Hear teammates |
Role choice matters less than you think for a first run โ pick, play, then switch roles between rounds. Swapping lets each player feel where the chain actually breaks, and it is the fastest way to build empathy for the Mute gesture problem.
Step 4: Set Communication Rules (2 Minutes, Saves Runs)
- Gesture signs for yes, no, wait, repeat, go-back, and digits 0โ9.
- Left/right = the Blind Monkey left/right, always.
- Callouts follow one order: module name โ position โ details โ manual answer โ repeat-back โ confirm โ input.
- Nobody touches anything until the instruction has been repeated back once.
Step 5: Play the Round
The Deaf describes each module, the Blind reports Braille, the Mute looks up the rule and gestures the answer, the Deaf says it aloud, the Blind acts and reports the result. A changed module is a new state โ re-read it before using any old answer. The full loop with examples is in the beginner guide, and per-module callouts are in the module guide.
