BOMBANANA! Game Modes
The full release gives you three ways to play: Campaign, Endless and Custom. They ask different questions โ Campaign teaches you what to learn next, Endless tests how long your procedures survive, and Custom lets you build exactly the practice you need. Pick the mode that fits the session, not the one that feels newest.
The Three Modes
| Mode | Question it answers | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign | "What should we learn next?" | First runs and learning new modules |
| Endless | "How long can we sustain it?" | Teams with a solid procedure who want pressure |
| Custom | "What exactly do we want to test?" | Practicing one module or one role swap |
Campaign
The main route: 30 handcrafted levels that introduce module families in a fixed order and widen the random pool as you climb. Levels 1โ7 build the basics, Switch arrives at 16, Maze at 18 and Morse at 21 โ see the campaign walkthrough for the full map. Campaign answers "what's next" better than any other mode, which is why the achievements guide recommends finishing it first.
Endless Mode
Endless is a survival ladder of escalating waves. Verified details (version 1.0.0 data):
- Start with 150 seconds and 3 strikes per wave โ survive the wave or you lose a strike.
- 8 wave tiers that raise the challenge: starting time, strikes, module count, and the weight of Easy / Medium / Hard modules all scale as you climb.
- Time bonuses for clearing waves โ the clock is both pressure and reward.
- Hazard tiers rise too, which means more Chaos interruptions exactly when the module load gets heavy.
The three Endless achievements map onto the climb: Endless Junior (5 waves), Endless Expert (15 waves) and Endless Master (30 waves). Launch-day snapshots showed Master around 0.1% โ this is the long-pole mode of the achievement set.
Endless tips: stable routines and repeatable callouts beat one-off hero plays. Save a solved final action for the timer window, treat every interruption as "panel may have changed," and rotate roles deliberately so one player's fatigue doesn't tank the run.
Custom Mode
Custom is the practice workshop โ you configure a bomb to test exactly what you want:
- Pick difficulty (choosing Hard unlocks the Fearless Monkeys achievement).
- Build a controlled practice bomb around one module family instead of waiting for a random late-game bomb to produce the weakness you want to drill.
- Test a role swap without unrelated difficulty muddying the result.
If Switch is your team's wall, Custom lets you grind Switch repetitions in five minutes instead of hoping the campaign serves you one. If you are onboarding a new Blind, strip everything else away and let them build trust with the relay.
Which Mode Should You Play?
- Brand new to the game โ Campaign, and finish it once.
- Stuck on one module or role โ Custom, deliberately.
- Procedures feel solid and you want a challenge โ Endless, and chase the wave tiers.
- Achievement cleanup โ Campaign first, then the Endless waves and Custom Hard in the same sitting as the repeat/slap/basket grinds (see the achievements guide).
